THE POSTER DESIGN SUMMER SCHOOL
Posters are an instant media but notoriously challenging to design. You will learn theoretical and practical methodologies (gestalt theory, image making and image research theories, and practical graphic design methods through design work). Poster professionals from partnering universities and the Lahti International Poster Triennial will mentor the course.
The course is suitable for both BA and MA levels.
The course is organized in collaboration with the Lahti International Poster Triennial and the Lahti Museum of Visual Arts Malva. The triennial celebrates its 50th anniversary and is held in Lahti in the summer of 2025. We will visit the exhibition and receive a guided tour.
The theme in this years’ summer school is Freedom of Expression, which is also the theme of the Lahti International Poster Triennial 2025. It provides a platform for investigating the complexities of freedom in modern society from multiple angles: taking into account human rights and societal, political, economic, and ecological aspects.
The posters will be exhibited at the end of the course in
Lahti, LUJA campus gallery from 26.6.–8.9.2025
Helsinki, Grafia Associations’ Luonnosikkuna gallery in the city centre from 26.6.–8.9.2025
